One night while delivering for Domino's in Ohio there was a tornado that was hitting about 10 miles from my store. In my area it was raining so bad that I couldn't see more than ten feet in front of my car. I had a delivery that would normally only take about 5-10 minutes to get there, but this time it took me over a half an hour. When I finally found the house, I got out and ran up to their porch (which was only about 20 steps away) and I was completely drenched. I knocked on their door for a few minutes before an elderly lady opened the door. She was saying that she was so sorry that I was having to bring her pizza in this weather. Which of course when she payed, she stiffed me.
Now, not only was I mad that I got stiffed, when I turned around to go back to my car, it stopped raining and the sun came out before I could even get off of her porch. Talk about luck!
I've many other stories as well as stories from my drivers but I think this one is the best I've heard in a long time. I had a driver that took a run to a nice apartment complex in our area and when he got there the guy was passed out drunk on his couch. He had only his screen door closed so the driver could see him about ten feet in front of him. He tried knocking several times before he started trying to yell at the guy to wake him up. After a few more minutes of that the driver took out his cell phone and called the guy. Of course this had no effect on the drunk either. So the driver waited for the answering machine to pickup, and he left a long message explaining that he tried to deliver the pizza but the guy was passed out.
Now the best part is that he stood there for a few more minutes telling this guy on his answering machine everything that he was doing. Telling him that he was rolling over, scratching himself, and even held the phone close to the door so
hopefully the guy could even hear himself snoring and talking. Needless to say this gentleman never called back to the store to complain that he didn't get his pizza. Heck, he probably didn't even know he ordered the pizza until he listened to his answering machine.
