Delivery story 449

This is a good one. I never delivered pizza or anything before but I managed to get a job as a delivery driver for a brand new Asian Cuisine restaurant in town. I was the only driver on a busy Friday and when I walked in, the first ever delivery in my life was a big order to deliver. A very big order. Family Resources in Rhode Island was holding an office party, and ordered $125.65 worth of Chinese food. The order must have weighed 70 pounds on two large platters. Chinese restaurants are notorious for being very generous with the helpings of food they give you, and this was no exception.

Parking was a b*!&%. Street parking. I was practically in the middle of the road. Almost got hit by a truck getting the food out of the car. Got all the food inside (one trip) and made the trek to the third floor.

I finally got there and placed the trays of food on the serving table for the customer. Didn't have to, but I figured it would help get a better tip. Lady walks over and hands me an envelope with payment (they paid by check) and guess how much it was written for?

$125.65! Not one thin dime for a tip! Not even a dollar bill. My first delivery, which would have even made even a seasoned pro challenged, and I got stiffed!

Welcome to the wonderful world of pizza/Chinese food delivery.

Needless to say, now I know who will be the absolute LAST stop on a multiple run. The place is just down the street from the restaurant. I'll make sure I take the long route around next time.
