I work at a Pizza Hut in Cincinnati, Ohio on the University of Cincinnati campus. We had an order to a Kingsgate Marriott Hotel of $400 for a football team from another university that had come in to play UC.
They wanted all of this extra stuff including paper plates, napkins, utensils, red pepper, and Parmesan cheese and we gladly brought everything along and helped them set it all up. We had to use two delivery drivers because the 20 bags wouldn't fit in one car. We were rightfully expecting a nice tip to split between the two of us.
As soon as we got everything unloaded and on the table in the conference room of the hotel I had the person who was there to accept the pizzas sign the credit card receipt, where there is a line to add a tip.
Let's just say, we walked out empty handed. We were very upset. We told the whole store about it and everyone agreed that it was pretty ridiculous to not get anything.
After a long night of being upset and myself being the closing driver, we got a call at the end of the night from the university that had ordered the pizza. The person was very upset and was discussing an issue with the manager. Apparently, someone from our store (we still don't know who and don't ask questions) sent a text message to the number on the ticket that said, "It isn't right to not tip your delivery driver and you should not feel good about it," or something along those lines. I don't know for sure what it said.
Anyway, to make a long story short, there was a misunderstanding as to how we were getting tipped. It was supposed to be on a separate credit card and given to us before even bringing the order. It probably wasn't right for the person to send that text message, but in the end, it got me my $40 tip, so I don't care who did it... LOL.
