This just makes your heart go um. I work at the newest Pizza store in town, Hungry Howie's, as a delivery driver and this happened today.
I was the only driver in the store at the time and I answered the phone to take an order. It was a nice old lady and she never heard of us. We've been in Gonzales, Louisiana for 5 weeks. Anyway, she ordered the 2 calzone and Pepsi for $14.99 special. (Total bill: $18.44 with tax and delivery.) I told her 30 minutes, expecting the other driver to show up. I took my first delivery of the day and then I had to go to the bank to get our deposit slips and bags. Now I was already having a bad day because of some news I got before leaving home, and I did not need the idiots at Capital One bank crying to me about deposits.
I returned to the store and there was no second driver. The nice lady was on the phone wondering where her pizza was. I took her pizza and two others with me. I found her house and we did our exchanges, and get this, she was an evacuee from New Orleans (Katrina.) She complimented me because of my sweet voice, and to top it off, she said she is tired of Domino's.
She handed me $40 and told me to keep the change. Then she gave me three Ziploc bags of brownies. My jaw just dropped. Not only a $31.56 tip, but brownies! I just adopted me a new grandma.
