Delivery story 378

Papa johns diva writes:

This one happened about five years ago, but it's the story that still makes me the maddest.

I was working at Papa John's in Conyers, Georgia and took a delivery to this large apartment complex. I pulled into the section where building Y was, and the parking lot was small, fairly cramped and in the entire section there was just one parking spot, which was handicapped. There was no place else to park that will not cut off traffic. So I parked in the handicapped spot. After all, this will be two minutes tops, right?

First of all, a preteen boy answered the door and handed me a $100 bill. After I tried to explain to him that no pizza place on earth would have change for a hundred, his large obnoxious mother came out and started to call me names for not having change. About this time, a red-faced man walked up and started yelling at me about how inconsiderate I was for taking the handicapped spot. His mom is handicapped, and he was sick of dealing with inconsiderate morons like me, and I better immediately move my car because he was going inside to get his BASEBALL BAT and I will be sorry, and furthermore, I will get fired for this!

I tried to tell him to hold on, that I am about to leave, and turned to the obnoxious family (now joined by two adult men) and told them to give me the $100 bill and take the pizzas and I will bring them change from the store. Of course, the woman said, "How stupid do I look? You're gonna steal my money?" and I tried to explain that she knows where I work, and if she can't pay for the pizzas I was taking them back. Now the two adult males were coming closer and acting menacingly. Not to mention handicap guy was now calling the police on me for parking in the handicapped spot. I took off with the pizzas, and although the supervisor seemed to think I was exaggerating, I was never in trouble.

I will never understand why people feel they can be so abusive and belittling to the delivery drivers.
