Delivery story 33

Collegeguy for Papa John's writes:

I delivered a pizza last night to this guy's house in Charlotte, North Carolina. Of course, he does not have his porch light on, numbers are missing from his mailbox, the cars in the driveway obscure the address numbers on the house, and there are no lights on in the house at all. So finally, after locating this jerk's house, I knock on the door. No response. I wait a minute. I knock again, but louder. This 8-year-old kid comes to the door, but for some reason, he does not comprehend how a door functions. He spends two minutes trying to open the freaking door! Then he tells me to hold on.

I wait another minute. He comes back and again messes with the lock. At this point, I'm starting to get pissed off because I still have other deliveries in my car. So I tell the kid to open the garage door, figuring that this is an easy solution. Then the ALARM system goes off! I'm about to lose it at this point!! After 5 minutes, the alarm is turned off and this 13-year-old kid comes to the door. Finally someone who knows how a door works. I felt like giving him the biggest @%!#ing lecture about what NOT to do when ordering pizza. But I did say, "It helps to have everything ready when you are expecting a pizza delivery. It's a fast paced business and any delay causes problems." He apologized and I collected the money.

As I'm walking away, his drunk father comes out and asks me what I just said to his son. I repeated it. Then he gets pissed off and claims that the delay was caused by the alarm system. I reminded him that his son could not open the door for several minutes BEFORE the alarm system went off. Then he starts yelling at me, so I just walk away and say ,"Have a good night, sir."

Then this jerk calls the store and says that I was rude to him and he wanted a refund. Oh, I forgot, it's MY FAULT that your stupid kid does not know how to open a door and it's MY FAULT that you're an idiot for setting your alarm when you know there's pizza arriving soon. This job never ceases to amaze me!
