| Delivery story 328

I deliver for Pizza Hut in Sidney, Ohio. I have only been on the job two months as of this writing, but I have dealt with two exceptionally stupid customers. They exceeded anything I could have imagined.
The first story was about a non-existent address. I will rename the streets to avoid nailing the stupid customer. The delivery was for 736 Bellingham Ave, Apt 7. I drove up and down Bellingham and there was a 734 right next to a 738. Both were houses, not apartments. I ran back to the store and had my manager call. Customer said she definitely lives at 736 Bellingham, Apartment 7. OK, fine; she is delusional. I tried up the street at 936 Bellingham, thinking she was off by 200. There were apartments there, but they had letters, not numbers, like Apartment B. Now I was getting upset. I drove to the apartments at the other end of Bellingham and asked if the address makes any sense. One person said it sounds like the Apartments on Center Street. Center Street ... hmm. I drove to Center Street and drove around in the complex until I found a building marked 736. I saw a bunch of drunks on the balcony, so I asked, after being taunted for five minutes, what the correct address was for this building. They all said 736 Center Street. So I got inside and asked some people leaving the building what the address was. They said 736 Center Street. I got to Apartment 7 and knocked on the door. A young lady greeted me. I asked her if she ordered a pizza, and she said yes. I asked her if this was 736 Bellingham, and she said yes, 736 Bellingham. I told her that the other people in this building all think they live on Center Street, and perhaps she should check. I didn’t get a tip.
Second story. I had a delivery to the former Holiday Inn, room 153. It is now an independent hotel, but the phone number is the same. I knocked on room 153 and no one answered. I had the lady at the front desk call room 153. No one answered the phone. She checked and it turned out no one was in that room. I asked if there were any other rooms with similar numbers. She checked and told me that only seven people were registered and five of them left the building. So I took the pizza back and let my manager know what was going on. It got pretty busy and I did not follow up until later that night. It seems this customer was staying at the Hampton. How does anyone check into a hotel and be mistaken about where they are staying? It wasn’t even at the same exit. The phone number given would have been in the phone book, but again under Holiday Inn. People that stupid have no business staying in hotels or ordering pizza.
