I worked at a Benito's Pizza in Michigan. This story happened to me earlier this year.
I was on a delivery around 11:30 PM so it was dark outside. My manager's uncle had called and asked if he (my manager) would deliver some pizzas to him and his friends since they were all playing poker at his house. Since it was the third or fourth time that week that his uncle had called him and practically begged for some pizza, my manager gave in and told him that I would deliver the pizzas to him. So, my manager sent me out with the address and a phone number and told me to call when I got to the house because they were playing in the garage.
I arrived at the house, parked in the street (since the driveway was full of cars) and started to dial the number on my phone. As I was dialing, I noticed that I could see the light from the garage, and figured that instead of wasting my cellphone minutes by calling, I would just walk into the garage and give them the pizza. As I walked toward the garage I could see 9 or 10 men sitting around a table with cards on it. As I came from the dark into the light of the garage, one of the men saw me walking toward them and jumped up, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a revolver and screamed, "What the f***?" I froze, not knowing what to do, but luckily my manager's uncle had told the guy, "Relax. It's just the pizza guy." He told me I should have called because they don't like people sneaking up on them.
He gave me the money and I gave him the pizza, only to find out that I had forgotten a large pizza back at the store. So I had to go back to the store to get the pizza and come back and give it to him. Needless to say, when I went back the second time I called my manager's uncle instead of walking into the garage unannounced.
