Delivery story 250

Miles writes:

I make a lot of rural deliveries in a southern state. This delivery will always stand out in my mind.

It was late, around 11 PM, and I turned off Hwy 33 onto a narrow gravel road with a few houses on it. As I neared the first house there was a parked 18-wheeler tractor parked in the middle of the road. I pulled up behind it and sat there for a few moments. Off to the left I could see some people standing in the yard. I beeped the horn to try to get passage. Nothing happened for a minute or so and there was no way around this truck so I honked again and a guy came across the yard, got in the truck and pulled it off the road.

I continued to the dead end where the delivery was located, got out, and walked up on the front porch. I was standing there with the pizza and here comes Joe Truck Driver, parking his rig and coming out breathing fire. This was his house! He stormed up on the porch and knocked the pizza out of my hand. "We don't want this f%%%ing pizza, blah, blah." Then he pushed me. Big mistake. I'm sure his appetite didn't improve one bit when I hit him with a blast of pepper spray right between the eyes. My girlfriend at the time had been worried because I was robbed just a few months earlier. She got me the spray just in case. But, that didn't calm this guy down at all. He charged me again and I just took off. When I got back to the store I was fired (by Domino's) for carrying pepper spray. They didn't even care what happened!
