Delivery story 242

Dominodeliverer writes:

I'm a Domino's delivery guy in Gastonia, NC and during my time there, I developed a pet peeve that shines above all others: people who I know work for tips, but are lousy tippers themselves.

That leads me to my story. On a rainy Saturday afternoon, I took a delivery to the local Autobell Car Wash. As I'm sure you know, a large amount of their employees' incomes comes from tips too, but that did not stop this guy from stiffing me while I stood there in the rain.

This one I took personally, very personally. It took me three visits back to that car wash to catch the guy working. I had him clean my car, hinting that if he did a great job he would get a great tip. When I was finally satisfied that he had worked hard enough, I not-so-kindly reminded him of who I was and that what he did to me was pretty reprehensible and left.

As good as it felt to get a little revenge on the guy to teach him a lesson, I didn't want to be a hypocrite by not tipping someone who worked hard, so I decided to "take the high road." I let him stew for a couple of hours and then went back and gave him his rightful tip. He actually apologized and seemed very thankful. I don't know if he actually took it to heart, though, as I never got the opportunity to deliver back there again.
