I deliver pizza in the Mentor area of Lake County in northeast Ohio. During the regular season of an outstanding Mentor High School football season (Cardinals went to the Div. 1 state championship game) I had a delivery of $89.96 worth of sheet pizzas to "The Mentor Cardinals Field" or whatever it was officially called.
Finding the exact physical location to walk the pizzas to after parking in the designated area was a long trip itself. Then there was the usual long, drawn out process of finding out who and where to go to. (It was not on the delivery slip, of course.) Then it took two trips to bring the 10gt in 1/2 sheet boxes (5 sheet pizzas total) and basically my car was parked parallel to one end zone. The weight room (my destination, again not noted on the delivery slip) was at about mid-field. 200 yards walked total in two round trips. For what? A 4-cent tip. I was handed $90.00 for an order for $89.96. It was one of the coaches. One of those typical "full of himself, too busy for you" pricks with his stupid Riddel short shorts on ... lol.
On my way out, I said to a high-schooler and her little friends as I handed her 4 pennies, "Mentor won't win Division 1." "What?" "You jerk." "You creep." She threw the pennies to the ground. I have nothing against Mentor High School. It's my Mom's Alma Mater even, but my prediction in anger came true. The Mentor Cardinals lost the Div. 1 championship game in the last play of the game. I personally would have liked to see them win. Heck, I'm not the one who cursed the team with an act of stinginess.
