Delivery story 194

Toolbag writes:

I used to work for Menu2u in Frederick, MD. There are other companies around with different names, but basically you deliver food from different restaurants in the area. You jack up the price a little bit and charge a delivery fee. We all had walkie-talkies -- this was before everyone over the age of five had a cellphone -- and we'd drive around from restaurant to restaurant and deliver whatever meals people ordered.

One night I had a call to an apartment off of 7th street. I picked up the food -- pizza from Tarauzo's, I think -- and went to the apartment. When I got to the door I could hear yelling inside. It was obviously from an arguing couple. Actually it was more like a screaming match, and I could hear quite clearly it was about money. I got on the walkie-talkie and asked to confirm the address. They told me that yes, unfortunately, I was at the right place.

I knocked on the door a few times but they couldn't hear me over their own screaming. I ended up pounding on the door until I got their attention. A male finally came over and screamed through the door, "WHAT??!!" I sheepishly said, "Uh, Menu2u? I've got your pizza?" This spun the guy into a fit of rage I've never of heard before. "DID YOU F-N' ORDER F-N' PIZZA WITHOUT TELLIN' ME????" The woman in the house started crying that it wasn't her fault. She said she was "just a blonde" and was stupid and couldn't help it. He backed her up on that assertion. "YOU ARE JUST A F-N' STUPID F-N' BLONDE B-TCH AREN'T YOU??!! AREN'T YOU??!!" This went on for about five minutes and included the guy screaming something about her mentally disabled brother who always borrows money and her mother that deserves to die for something she did to him at thanksgiving a few years ago.

I knocked on the door again and asked if they wanted me to leave and they guy finally opened the door. When he did, I saw the woman in the kitchen on her knees with her forehead against the floor alternating between screaming and crying. I asked if she was okay and they both said, "Everything is fine, everything is fine."

Surprisingly they actually tipped me.
