I was a pizza delivery driver for Pizza Hut in Columbus, OH. I only worked there for a few months, but I had quite the time. Some of the other drivers started calling me "Lucky" as an ironic nickname.
For starters, I was in three accidents, all while delivering or going to work. The first accident occurred while I was sitting at a stop light after delivering a pizza. I inched up and the guy behind me thought I was going, so he gunned it right into the back of my car, totaling it. My second accident happened while I was going to work. A lady drove out of an Arby's drive through and plowed right into my new car (to replace the totaled one.) My third accident occurred while I was coming back to the store after a couple of deliveries. It was raining and I skidded into the lady in front of me, totaling the car.
The icing on the cake was that on top of these fun times, I was also robbed twice. The first robbery wasn't long after I had started. I took a delivery to a bad part of town. When I knocked on the apartment door, the man politely told me he didn't order the pie. I said, "Okay, sorry to bother you," and went back to my car. On the way, a dude showed up with a gun and demanded that I give him my money and the pizza. I did as I was told, and the dude told me to "get the hell out of here!" I did just that!
The second robbery was even more fun. I took a delivery around noon to the same neighborhood. I knocked on the door and the guy told me, "I have to get the money--hold on a sec." He left, and when he came back, he grabbed me by the shirt, dragged me into the apartment and put a knife to my throat. He then told me to give him my wallet, the pizzas, all of my money, and my car keys. I did as I was told, but did not hand over my cell phone. After he had what he wanted, he let me go. He then stole my car (with two more deliveries in it still to be made!) I called the cops and they took me back to the store. A month later, they found my car a few miles from where it was stolen, but all of the windows and the sunroof were open, and we had had a lot of rain. There was a layer of mold growing all over it, and it smelled like hell. To top it off, the officers told me it appears that it had stolen merchandise in it, and that the thief had smoked crack in the car.
As you can see, I earned my nickname.
