Delivery story 18

Doug writes:

My name's Doug, and I've worked at most of the pizza places in Muncie, Indiana. While I was at Pizza King, for all of ~3 to 5 years, I had a few things happen to me.

I was on a 11:30 PM run to the "cheesebox", mostly a white trash neighborhood, with a few nice customers. The address turned out to be a empty lot. I was half out of the car, thinking about being shafted by a bad order that was across town from my store because a bonehead phone person didn't know Muncie. I go to get in my car, and when I look up, there's ~8 BIG guys running up the road at me! I d@^^ near ran over them getting out of there. I knew if I tried to turn around they might of had my @%$.

Next incident. I was on Centennial Ave. handing a customer their pizza, and he told me someone was in my car. I turned around in time to see him running off with my other delivery. I yelled, "STOP YOU MOTHER#$!@&%", and he turns to look at me, and trips over the curb, into someone's shrubs, and takes off without the now squished pizza. Downtown incident. We had a order to 828 W. ------. When the other driver that night returned, he was pale white and shaking. Seems a 6-foot tall drunk homosexual had picked him up, carried him to the door, and was going to take him to bed if the guy's roommates didn't stop him. Nobody believed him, but when the customer called back for a "forgotten" coke, nobody was going to take it to him!

OK, now for Papa John's fun! We had a new manager, who was god's gift to machismo, at least according to his left hand. :) Around midnight, a driver called back to the store and told him there was someone messing around in the alley behind the store. Being the macho man he thought he was, he went bursting out the alley door and yelled at them to leave, earning himself a gunshot to his stomach. I'm glad I didn't work that night!

We were right next to a Pizza King at that time, and one of the drivers was working for PK, but running PJ's delivery at the same time. He did it for 5 months before Pizza King noticed. Another driver there was engaged to a phone operator, and he would wait for her to call him on his cell phone to come back. She'd watch for the better deliveries to come up for him to take.
