Delivery story 175

Big Ben writes:

I worked at a Domino's pizza in Dublin, Ohio. I had been delivering for about a month and really never had any problems. I never even got anything that surprised me.

I was on a delivery one night that was going to take around 10 minutes of driving. I was about 3 miles from the store in the middle of "Old Dublin" when I made a left turn behind a car full of highschoolers. I continued for roughly 5 miles up Dublin Road kinda riding this guy's bumper. (He was doing 30 in a 45.) I turned on my right signal to pull into an apartment complex, made a series of about 10 turns while this car full of kids matched my every turn in front of me without signaling.

I arrived at the house and pulled to the side while the other car kept going. I thought nothing of it as I got out the receipt and the customer's order. The kids made a u-turn and parked right in front of me. They all jumped out of the car acting really hard and pulled me out of my truck. Between the beatings by these drunk kids, I heard them asking why I was following them. "What the F*** is my problem?!?!" and "Kick his a**!" At this time, an older woman maybe in her 50's came running outside to my rescue. I was supposed to deliver this woman's pizza's and she was having to fight her son and his dunk buddies off me. They ended up in jail for the night with counts of assault and underage consumption. She left me a 30 dollar tip for her $26 order and told me she was sorry.

The next day I was still in pain and decided to go to the urgent care where I discovered I had four broken ribs and a fractured oral bone under my right eye. I contacted the woman. Rather than go to court, she paid me off for my hospital bills and $2000. In a way I was lucky, and in some ways I still wonder what the odds were of following home your customer's drunk kid 12 miles without knowing. Kinda weird.

I quit after the payoff and used it to pay for my first quarter of college.
