Delivery story 157

Working at Pizza Hut for two years, and Dominos one year, I have a lot of fun stories, but I will limit it to the best of them. Here's my driver life story.

I started in 1986 at Pizza Hut in Kansas City, KS using my own car for deliveries. Totally uneventful for about the first month, I made a delivery to "The Plaza," a wealthy shopping area/tourist trap. This was to a very fancy hotel. I went to the room and a VERY gorgeous young woman came to the door, in a skin tight leather outfit complete with whip, and said, "I hope the pizza is REALLY hot!" I wouldn't have thought much about it except for the muffled, gagged sounding man's voice from inside going, "Oh no no NOOO." She gave me a $ 20 tip for a $ 15.51 super supreme pizza and closed the door. I don't think I wanna know.

Not even a week later I got a call from an apartment complex in the same area and a totally nude woman answered the door, not bad looking, but not great either. She took the pizza, no tip, but said if I wanted to, I could come in for a little fun. Being married at the time, I said I wasn't really interested in having sex with a random woman and I left. Apparently she thought I meant something else as the very next day I had an order to the same place, requesting me, and this time a MAN came to the door nude. I could see her inside and she asked me if I wanted to come in for sex. I never delivered there again.

After working there a year, they allowed us to use one of the Pizza Hut trucks painted with logos all over it to deliver instead of our own cars. We soon learned that these were a bad idea as they were getting robbed a lot. On one delivery I was just getting into the truck when a short, string bean teenager wrapped his arm around my neck and demanded all my pizza and cash. Being in a very bad mood that day, I grabbed his arm, flipped him around, pushed it up behind his back until it made a cracking noise and he ran away. I later found a bag on the floor of the truck with 84 toothpick sized joints in it. What luck -- he tried to rob me and lost all his dope.

My time with Domino's was uneventful. I guess all the crazy people call Pizza Hut, but one thing I noticed was the area we had was split. Half was poor and the other was rich. Oddly, the poor tipped well and the rich mostly stiffed us. Also, when using a company truck, your tips go WAY down. Guess they think you don't need the money if you don't use your own car.

On a side note, once just as we were closing, we got an order for 10 pizzas to the very expensive hotel in the plaza. The customer's name was T. Turner. My boss went wild, closed the store and went with me. We spent 30 minutes in security to go up, got no tip, but were allowed to party on their private floor with everyone. I didn't see her but still had a blast! My best tip in all those years was no tip at all. Just an after concert party.
