One mid-afternoon day, I had a delivery to the outskirts of our delivery area and things are pretty quiet in the outskirts. The stretch of road has a shooting range, then a car insurance headquarters about a quarter-mile from the range, and an auto actions yard right next to the car insurance place. A mile further there's an old Air Force base.
Anyway, the address on my tag was the car insurance building so I got in and found that no one had ordered. I was thinking it was probably the auto auction yard, so I headed on over.
I walked into the office of the auto yard and there were a bunch of ladies working at desks with computers and people who were probably trying to get in on the auctions. (They did look fairly busy.)
I made eye contact with one and she saw that I had pizza and she pipes up that she ordered.
"Ok, cool. I was just next door looking for you because I've got the wrong address here on my tag."
She looked at me with the most pissed off face and said, "I told the girl on the phone our address! She even repeated back to me!" She then said the address out loud. Sure enough, it was the one on my tag (still the wrong address.)
I responded with a semi-sarcastic, "Yeah. That's over there where I was just looking for you. That's not your address, ma'am." She then walked around the counter and pointed in my face and said, "Are you calling me a liar?!"
At this point I was getting pissed but not showing it yet. "Uhhh, I guess I am?" I said.
She goes on to cause a scene and says stuff like, "Can you believe this shithead?? He just called me a liar!!" She's looking at her co-workers and myself, back and forth, etc, but they were unsure of what was going on.
She said, "I'm calling your manager and your fucking fired buddy!" I laughed out loud, put the pizza back in the bag and said, "Go AHEAD, call my fukking manager. I'm not delivering to your ass way out here in the middle of nowhere to the wrong address ever again."
At that point one of the workers got up and pointed at me and said, "Get out!" LOL. "Already on my way, ladies," I responded.
As soon as I got out the door I called my work and said to expect a call and sure enough they called. I explained what happened to my boss and she just said that I can't cuss at the customer, which was a first for me. I never thought I'd cuss towards a customer. The lady tried to get me fired but my boss just smoothed it over as best as possible and I guess it worked because I'm still there.
