Delivery story 133

Ok, first off I have never delivered before, I don't believe in tipping -- I believe in over-tipping.

But I still have a delivery story from the customer side.

Vinni's pizza in Newington, CT has GREAT pizza. Nice doughy crust, great sauce. All around one of the best pizzas I have had.

Once a week, a bunch of friends and I always get together. We mostly order pizza that night, and we normally get like 30 dollars or so in food. Well, there were 5 of us and we don't always have exact amounts. This one night, 3 of us had 20s and we were covering the whole order. So we had a 25 dollar order consisting of two large pizzas from this place. Now at this point the pizza place actually knew our voice because we had been ordering from them for 6 months, so they were very punctual and nice.

When the food arrived, we sent the guy closest to the door to get the food, one of the people who did not have any money that night. He did not realize that we needed some change, and just handed the driver the three 20s that were folded up. Because we ordered from this place regularly and always tipped well, the guy did not even count it. Just stuck it in his pocket. I can only imagine the reaction that driver had when he pulled the money out later. How often to you get a 35 dollar tip on a 25 dollar order?

Now whenever we order from them, it is to our place in like 10 minutes and we always get a free 2-liter of soda. One time it was there in like 3 minutes. Can't figure that one out. I think they had it ready because we always called at the same time on the same day. They always get a 5 to 10 dollar tip. It mainly depends on how much money we have on us, but it is generally closer to 10 dollars.

Tip people who provide a service for you. I even tip when I call in a take-out order, though it is normally less of a tip if they bring it to me. Someone at the restaurant had to take time away from waiting tables or delivering to prepare my food for me, so they deserve a tip.
