Delivery story 124

Living in Somerset, KY during 1995-6, I worked for a newer chain (Papa John's) that offered commission on the dollar amount of pizza delivered. Since the weather was adverse that day it was doubled by the store manager for any who dared work.

When I say adverse, I mean that it was literally raining ice. The water would hit and freeze in one step. I would get out of my pickup and slide to the doorstep, deliver the pizza, and slide back to my truck, pull out the hammer from the bed, and beat the ice off my door to get back in my truck. Then I had to spray my windshield with a special mixture (I plead the 5th) that would remove the ice so I could see, then drive to the next stop.

Between tips and commission I made over $300 that day. Thank you, Somerset.
