Pizza delivery q&a
Why can't drivers just tell customers about tipping?
That would violate strict company rules. The store has drivers in a catch-22 position. The company needs people to tip, otherwise they would have to pay their drivers considerably more. At the same time, they won't let us tell anyone about it. We would love to tell people at the door, but if the manager found out, we would be fired in an instant. The store is paranoid that it might lose a customer. Some customers, a tiny but vocal minority, react negatively because the subject is considered taboo. They act as if the rules of tipping changed to mandatory or they don't like the idea they did something wrong. I wish they would grow up. Some customers forget about tipping and we would love to gently remind them, but the risk of losing our jobs is too much. I might add that this entire website is against company policy.
